Tatiana
Ershova is the Director General of the Information Society Institute,
an NGO created in 1998 to facilitate Russia's full participation
in the emerging Information Society. Her previous professional career
(1985-1997) goes back to the Russian State Library - a national
library of Russian Federation and the second largest library of
the world where she made a full career from an ordinary librarian
up to a Deputy Director and the Acting Director.
She has been involved in the development of the IS related conceptual
documents for the City of Moscow, in the activities of the High-Level
Expert Group on e-Development of the Moscow City Duma (Council),
in consultations on IS development policies and projects. She has
been the PI and an expert for a number of IT related projects supported
by the Russian national science foundations, speaker to and organiser
of several national and international conferences and workshops.
She has been strongly involved in the activities of the International
Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), is author
of over 50 publications in professional journals and mass media
(national, foreign and international). She is the Project Manager
of the Russia Development Gateway supported by the infoDev Program
of the World Bank.
She has initiated the creation of the Russian Public-Private e-Development
Partnership (PRIOR) - a nation-wide initiative now involving 154
organizations from 21 regions of Russia and from other countries
(Finland and US). She is Head of PRIOR Directorate, member of PRIOR
Coordinating Board and Director of the newly created Russian e-Development
Foundation.
