Alfonso Molina

Alfonso Molina is the Director of the Technology Management and Policy Programme (TechMaPP). He was born in Chile where he trained as Electronic Engineer at the University of Chile.

   

Came to Britain and obtained a M.Phil in Electronic Engineering, University of Bradford. He shifted from engineering to social studies of technology and completed a doctorate at the Science Studies Unit, The University of Edinburgh. His research interests centre on theories of innovation and technology management and strategy, particularly on his original sociotechnical constituencies approach, now widely applied to understand and inform the strategic development of a variety of information and communication technologies. A particular interest has been to transform this academic theorisation into instruments of practical application for government and company technology strategies. These include "evolving business plans," "customised user research," and "trend-mapping." Alfonso has worked in numerous occasions as consultant, evaluator, reviewer and rapporteur for directorates DGIII, DGXII, DGXIII of the European Community. He has published numerous books, papers and reports.
