3D Sound Learning Environments for Blind Learners

The project consists of exposing Chilean blind children to a learning methodology that uses a set of 3D sound interactive software to help them To construct cognitive structures that allow the representation of their surrounding space. This project is a truly innovative approach for bridging the digital divide; it is focused on disadvantaged blind children, creating an inclusive information society. The project addresses the needs of the visually impaired in a 21st century technological solution. This interactive software based on 3D sound helps blind students to construct cognitive structures that allow the representation of space through sound. The project has contributed to the improvement of the quality of learning and introduces a new way of training blind learners for cognitive learning and development. The project introduces a new concept of learning. It promotes the use of virtual reality as a technology that can help blind learners to learn using 3D sound.
