PAOLA M.
MANACORDA
In February of this 1998, Paola M.
Manacorda was appointed commissioner for the Autorità per le garanzie
nelle comunicazioni, (the Italian Regulatory Authority for
Communications). Since 1995 she has been President of Reseau, a
research and consulting company specialised in Information
Communication Technology. In Reseau, where she had worked since
1982, she carried out studies, research and consulting in computer
science and telecommunications sectors, especially for public
administrations, local authorities and territorial districts.
She planned the first Italian network
of telematic services for an industrial district (Sprint Project in
Prato, 1982 – 85) and since 90s researched the use of
telecommunication networks for public services and developed projects
to cable the main Italian cities.
She was Professor at the Department of
Regional Studies of Milan Polytechnic and from 1990 to 1992 she acted
as Counsellor for Civic Services and Women Condition in Milan.
She has published seven books and many
articles in economic, scientific and political journals, and she has
been speaker in national and international meetings.
Lastly, she is the author of the entry
“Telematica” in the Encyclopaedia of Social Science, Treccani. |
