The School of Tomorrow and the Computer Age

Computers and technology have affected every aspect of people's life; school cannot be an exception as education more than anything else in society has to follow the spirit of modern age. The opportunities technology offers to improve the school environment are enormous: access to libraries for the remote areas, possibility for contact and collaboration among schools, enrichment of the everyday class work, opportunity for familiarizing young people to technology etc. But despite all these miracles, I do not think that the computer itself can totally replace the school environment; learning through the internet only and replacing school with distant learning is a chimera in my opinion. It can enrich school, it can be a valuable tool for teachers and students if they learn to use it correctly, but only incorporated in the school life, tightly connected to the classroom. According to what I believe, nothing can replace the human relationship between the teacher and the students. Computer is just a tool which we should learn to use correctly in order to serve our needs.
